Lifecycle Psychology aims to support you through your therapeutic journey and beyond. It is important that we’re transparent about our processes and procedures, please do not hesitateto contact us to discuss these further if you have questions.
Please read our terms and conditions carefully.
1. Our service
Lifecycle Psychology is a team of Psychologists and Systemic Practitioners providing psychological assessment, therapy, supervision, and consultation services. Your clinician will talk to you about their training and ways of working. Please do feel free to ask as many questions as you need, it’s important to us that you feel comfortable with the process.
2. Confidentiality
- All governing bodies require clinicians to take notes of sessions and to have regular clinical supervision.
- Clinical notes are kept securely in line with GDPR and professional standards. Please see our privacy policy for further information.
- All sessions are confidential and information will not be shared outside Lifecycle Psychology without your consent, except where we need to share information when we are worried about the safety of you or others. In these situations we will work with you to let you know our concerns and agree a safety plan. In the rare instances that we are not able to make contact with you, we may need to share information for your safety or the safety of others in advance of discussing this with you. Please see ‘emergency section’ for further details.
- Where helpful, we can share relevant information with other professionals directly involved in your care. This would be with your consent and agreement.
- In some circumstances, your therapist might be receiving their clinical supervision with a supervisor external to Lifecycle Psychology. This supervision will remain confidential and governed by the same GDPR regulations. In these instances your clinician will discuss this with you further.
3. Fees and payment
- The fee for therapy sessions is £120 per session.
- Couples and Family Therapy sessions are £160
- For some psychological therapies, such as trauma reprocessing work, it can be necessary to have longer sessions (for instance, 90 minutes) for which the session fee will be more. In these instances your therapist will discuss this with you to seek your agreement.
- Payment is required within 48 hours of the session unless otherwise agreed with your therapist. You will receive an invoice via email after your session.
- Late payment will result in sessions being paused until fees are settled. However if there are extenuating circumstances that prevent payment we would always ask that you discuss this as early as possible with your therapist to see what can be agreed during this period.
- We are happy to accept payment by insurance from companies that agree to pay fees. However, clients will remain responsible for any fees not covered by the insurance company within three months of invoicing.
- Clinicians will always try to be helpful but if a lot of time is being taken up with the need for phone calls and liaison with others, we may need to charge for this time. Your clinician will let you know about any charges ahead of agreeing to any liaison work.
- Reports will need to be charged at the clinicians’ standard rate per hour.
4. Cancellations and missed sessions
- At least 48 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule a session.
- Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or non-attendance without notice, will be charged in full.
- If Lifecycle Psychology needs to cancel a session, we will give as much notice as possible and offer an alternative.
5. Session arrangements
- Sessions last 50 minutes unless otherwise agreed.
- Sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly, but this may vary according to your needs. Your therapist will agree a consistent schedule of appointments with you according to what is most suited to your needs.
- Sessions may be held in-person or online.
6. Emergencies
- Lifecycle Psychology is unable to provide a crisis or emergency service.
- If you are in immediate danger or feel unable to keep yourself safe, please call 999 or go to your nearest Accident & Emergency department.
- You may also contact your GP, NHS 111, or Samaritans (116 123).
- If we are very worried about your safety we may contact your GP as we have a duty of care to share this information with a medical professional who can follow up with you.
- If we are very worried about the safety of others in your care we may refer on to services who are able to assess and support you.
- We ask for emergency contact details in the event of emergencies so that we can link up with a caring person in your life (where appropriate and agreed).
7. Professional Standards
- All clinicians are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Our work follows ethical standards for psychological practice.
8. Ending therapy
- As clinicians we will be talking to you and considering when it is most appropriate to end therapy. However, you may end therapy at any time, but we ask that you give at least two session’s notice so we can plan your ending as thoughtfully as possible.
- Lifecycle Psychology may also recommend ending therapy if it is no longer in your best interests or we feel another service might be more suited to your needs.
- After the initial 1-3 sessions (assessment phase), we may decide that another service may best meet your needs. We would talk to you as early as possible about this and help you consider alternative service or support.
9. Data protection
- We comply with UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
- Personal data is stored securely and only used for the purpose of providing care.
- You have the right to access your records; requests must be made in writing.
- Lifecycle Psychology is registered with the government under the Data Protection Act
and as such we need your permission to hold details on Lifecycle Psychology’s system. - Please see our privacy policy for further information
